I started out in print journalism and moved to television where I worked as a writer and producer. Gradually, I realized that exploring the psyche of the characters was my favorite part of writing. So when I decided to make a career change to clinical psychology it felt like a natural transition.
Now, I use my clinical skills to help writers who are confronting similar challenges to mine. I understand what it’s like to sit in a pitch meeting and have all your ideas rejected. To have an agent want you to “just knock out a new spec” for pilot season despite having stacks of them. To feel paralyzed when the words won’t come and your imagination is in a coma.
